Gary Clapshaw was an NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car driver who won the 1995 Funny Car national event in Memphis. Running his own operations, he later transitioned to Top Fuel, where he finished as runner-up at the 2000 U.S. Nationals. He is best remembered for generously loaning his Top Fuel dragster to legend Don Garlits, allowing "Big Daddy" to achieve his historic first 300-mph pass.
